Community Guidelines

Our Community Standard

SeleVerse is a Pan-African platform built on the values of respect, inclusion, editorial integrity, and authentic storytelling. These Community Guidelines exist to protect our community and ensure SeleVerse remains a safe, credible, and empowering space for African voices.

All users — creators, journalists, organizations, and general members — are expected to uphold these standards.

1. Respect and Inclusion

SeleVerse celebrates the diversity of Africa's 54 nations, hundreds of ethnic groups, and global diaspora. We require all users to treat each other with dignity and respect.

Harassment, bullying, threats, and targeted abuse of any individual or group are prohibited.

2. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against individuals or groups based on:

• Race, ethnicity, or national origin
• Religion or belief
• Gender or gender identity
• Sexual orientation
• Disability or health status
• Socioeconomic status

...is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate content removal and potential account suspension.

3. No Misinformation or Disinformation

SeleVerse is committed to information integrity. We prohibit:

• Deliberate spread of false information that could cause public harm
• Fabricated news stories or fake quotes attributed to real people
• Health misinformation that contradicts established medical consensus
• Election misinformation that could suppress voter participation
• Coordinated campaigns to spread false narratives

4. No Spam or Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior

Spam, fake accounts, bot networks, and coordinated inauthentic behavior undermine the integrity of our platform. We prohibit the use of automated tools to artificially inflate engagement, create fake accounts, or manipulate trending topics.

5. No Explicit or Adult Content

SeleVerse is not an adult content platform. Explicit sexual content, nudity, and adult material are prohibited. Content involving minors in any sexual context is strictly prohibited and will be reported to relevant authorities.

6. No Violence or Graphic Content

Content that glorifies, promotes, or incites violence is prohibited. Graphic content depicting real-world violence, gore, or suffering is prohibited except in clearly labeled journalistic contexts where it serves the public interest.

7. Intellectual Property Respect

Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. This includes copyrighted music, video, images, and written content. See our DMCA Policy for details on copyright claims.

8. How to Report Violations

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines:

• Use the in-app "Report" button on any post, comment, or profile
• Email our Trust & Safety team at abuse@seleverse.com

We review all reports and respond within 48 hours for urgent safety issues.

9. Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

• Warning: First-time minor violations
• Content Removal: Violating content removed
• Temporary Suspension: 7–30 days for repeated violations
• Permanent Ban: Severe or repeated violations
• Legal Action: For illegal content, including reporting to authorities
